On behalf of the International Va'a Federation the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Council are hosting the IVF Va'a World Elite & Club Sprint Championships presented by Hawaiian Airlines at Lake Kawana on Australia's Sunshine Coast.

With 35 invited countries, over 2,000 competitors and 1,000's of spectators this event brings the world paddling community and the excitement of the world's fastest outrigger canoe sprint racing to Australia.
The Va'a World Sprints 2016 will showcase the world's fastest Va'a (outrigger canoe) paddlers with 1 person (V1), 6 person (V6) and 12 person (V12) events. Divisions range from 16 years to over 70 years with a Para division for adaptive paddlers. For the first time the 2016 Va'a World Sprints will also include an Elite Championship show casing paddlers at the pinnacle of Va'a sprint racing.
The Va'a World Sprints 2016 will be the largest ever and one of the biggest events held on the Sunshine Coast. Along with a growing number of supporters from community groups like the Nandjimadji Art Group to suppliers such as accommodation provider Stay Oz and Best Western Plus Oceanside Kawana Hotel we are working hard to deliver the best event possible. So whether you are a Paddler, Business, Volunteer or Spectator grasp the opportunity to be part of this iconic world class multi-national event. There is a lot to get excited about.
